After West Indies’ crucial win over England in the Women’s T20 World Cup, fans were treated to an unusual interview featuring star all-rounder Deandra Dottin, who was speaking from an ice bath. The victory, which secured the Windies’ place in the semifinals and eliminated England, was followed by a behind-the-scenes chat, as teammate Shamilia Connell interviewed Dottin for the ICC’s social media.

As Connell entered the locker room, she humorously asked, “You’re fully clothed?” before joining Dottin, who was relaxing in the ice bath post-match. “This is a normal sight for her, she likes the ice bath,” Connell joked, setting the light-hearted tone for the conversation.
Reflecting on her performance, Dottin, who bowled three overs for 1-16 and played a key role in the field with three catches and a run-out, said, “It feels really good, to get in a couple of overs for the team.” Her efforts helped restrict England to 141/7, a total that West Indies chased down with an over to spare.
Connell continued by asking about the team’s semifinal qualification, their first in two World Cups. Dottin drew parallels to the Windies’ 2016 T20 World Cup victory, stating, “It feels similar to the 2016 World Cup… all we got to do is stick to it, remain confident, and keep going forward strong.”
In that match, Dottin contributed a valuable 27 from 19 balls, while openers Hayley Matthews and Qiana Joseph both notched half-centuries, setting the stage for a successful chase. The Windies secured the win, keeping their tournament hopes alive.
As Connell closed the interview, she playfully hinted at a repeat of 2016, saying, “You know what that means… we’re going to get a second star.” The West Indies finished atop their group, booking a semifinal clash against New Zealand, while South Africa advanced to face Australia in a repeat of the 2023 T20 World Cup final.
