Indian cricket star Virat Kohli reportedly had a heated encounter with an Australian journalist at Melbourne Airport on Friday. The incident occurred ahead of the Boxing Day Test against Australia, when Kohli believed his children were being filmed without his consent. Known for fiercely guarding his family’s privacy, the former Indian captain confronted the media representatives over the perceived breach.
Misunderstanding at the Airport
According to a report by Channel 7, Kohli became visibly upset when he spotted cameras near his children. Reporter Theo Doropoulos explained that the situation stemmed from a misunderstanding. “Kohli became heated when he thought the media was filming him with his children,” Doropoulos said.
Kohli expressed his frustration, stating, “With my kids, I need some privacy. You just can’t film without asking me.”
The journalist and cameraperson clarified that they were not filming Kohli’s family. After the air was cleared, Kohli shook hands with the Channel 7 cameraperson and walked away, bringing the incident to a peaceful conclusion.
A Tough Tour for Kohli
Kohli’s Australia tour has been a mixed bag in terms of performance. Despite scoring a brilliant century in the second Test at Perth, his 30th in Test cricket, his overall form has been inconsistent. Besides the century, he has managed scores of 5, 7, 11, and 11 in the series so far.
Concerns have also been raised about his technique, as he has been repeatedly dismissed by deliveries well outside the off stump. With seven centuries on Australian soil, Kohli’s struggles in the current series have been unexpected.
