Star batter Suryakumar Yadav retained his second position in the latest ICC Men’s T20I batting rankings, with 821 rating points. Travis Head of Australia leads the rankings with 844 points, followed closely by Yadav. Phil Salt from England holds third place with 797 points, followed by Pakistan’s Babar Azam (755), Mohammad Rizwan (746), and Jos Butler (716). Meanwhile, Rut raj Gaikwad made significant strides, climbing 13 places to seventh position after his impressive unbeaten 77 off 47 balls in India’s commanding 100-run victory over Zimbabwe in the second T20I.

With several key members of India’s victorious ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad rested for the Zimbabwe tour, the five-match series has provided an opportunity for India’s fringe players to showcase their skills. Following the retirements of stalwarts Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja, emerging players are aiming to secure regular spots in the team.
In addition to Ruturaj Gaikwad, Rinku Singh and Abhishek Sharma have also made notable contributions among India’s batsmen. Rinku Singh, previously in the reserves for the T20 World Cup, climbed four places to 39th after his aggressive unbeaten 48 off 22 balls in the second T20I.
After a scoreless outing in the first match, all-rounder Abhishek Sharma smashed a remarkable 100 from just 47 deliveries in the second game, earning him a debut position in the rankings at 75th.
Zimbabwe’s Brian Bennett rose 25 places to 96th position following his impactful cameos, scoring 22 off 15 balls and 26 off nine balls in the two matches.
In the T20I bowling rankings, left-arm spinner Axar Patel dropped two spots to ninth position with 644 rating points, the only Indian in the top 10. Kuldeep Yadav also slipped three places to 11th, while Jasprit Bumrah, player of the tournament in the T20 World Cup, fell two spots to 14th.
There were shifts in the top 10 of the bowling rankings, with Adam Zampa (7th), Fazalhaq Farooqi (8th), and Maheesh Theekshana (10th) all gaining positions.
India’s Ravi Bishnoi moved up eight places to 14th after taking six wickets in the first two matches against Zimbabwe. Blessing Muzarabani also climbed eight spots to 55th position following his influential 1/17 spell that helped Zimbabwe win the first T20I.
India’s vice-captain Hardik Pandya dropped one spot to second in the T20I all-rounders’ rankings, with Wanindu Hasaranga of Sri Lanka claiming the top spot.
Washington Sundar of India entered the top 50 all-rounders’ rankings following his quickfire 27 in the first match and three wickets across two games. Axar Patel is positioned 12th in the all-rounders’ rankings.
