Spain coach Luis de la Fuente has “blind faith” in his team despite facing France and their “one of a kind” Kylian Mbappe in the upcoming Euro 2024 semi-final on Tuesday. Spain, enjoying a streak of five consecutive victories, have impressed throughout the tournament, netting 11 goals to reach the semi-finals. In contrast, France has struggled with their attack, scoring only three goals—one from a penalty and two own goals—and none from open play.

While forwards Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann have faced criticism for underperforming, de la Fuente remains cautious, especially about the French captain.
“Players like him are unpredictable. You never know where they will appear, and they never disappear completely. Even at 50 percent, Kylian Mbappe can be as effective as any other player at 100 percent. He can decide a game at any moment. He’s a genius, a world-class player, and France has many such talents,” de la Fuente said.
Despite his praise for the 25-year-old French captain, de la Fuente expressed confidence in his own team. “Mbappe is exceptional, but I believe my players are the best. We will try to minimize their strengths. I have blind faith in my team and know we are ready to win tomorrow.”
Spain midfielder Rodri also dismissed the criticisms of the French forward, considered by many as the world’s best player. “I don’t trust what people say. I know the player he is. He can hurt any team at any time, and we will have to be aware of what he does.”
Rodri also countered claims that France’s journey to the semi-final has been based on unexciting football. “Some might think they are boring, but I don’t see it that way,” said the Manchester City midfielder. “They’re in the semi-finals, and others are not. But we just want to win and play our football, without focusing too much on what they do.”
