Ishan Kishan is looking to reclaim his spot in the Indian team after facing a challenging period where he lost his place across all formats, including his central contract. The wicketkeeper-batsman, who last played for India in December last year, acknowledged the competition within the team, especially with the recent performances of players like Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson, who earned selections for the T20 World Cup 2024 and the Zimbabwe series.
Kishan expressed his admiration for Pant’s comeback and emphasized his readiness to compete for a place in all three formats.

“It was great to see Rishabh back in action. Competition is something I thrive on. Competing with quality cricketers pushes you to improve, and earning a spot feels like a true achievement. I know it won’t be easy, but I enjoy the challenge and don’t let it stress me out,” he stated.
Regarding his aspirations, Ishan reaffirmed his goal to represent India across all formats, as he did before his recent break from the team.
“I see myself playing in all three formats. I’ve performed well in T20Is, ODIs, and Tests before, and I aim to regain that consistency,” he asserted.
“For now, I’m focused on the present—improving my game, refining my skills, and staying fit. Innovating my shots and enhancing my wicket-keeping are top priorities. Instead of dwelling on the past or worrying about the future, I’m preparing for the upcoming domestic season with Jharkhand,” he added.
