Cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar is set to receive the BCCI’s prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the Naman Awards on Saturday. Recognized as one of the greatest batters in the history of the game, Tendulkar will be honored with the C.K. Nayudu Award, which acknowledges outstanding contributions to Indian cricket.
A BCCI official, speaking to the Hindustan Times, confirmed the development, stating, “Yes, Sachin will be honored at the Naman Awards on Saturday. It’s about time he received this award—what has he not done for Indian cricket?”
An Unparalleled Career
With 664 international appearances, Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for being the highest run-scorer in both Test and One-Day Internationals (ODIs). He amassed 15,921 runs in Test cricket and 18,426 runs in ODIs, a feat that remains unmatched. His 200 Test matches and 463 ODIs also make him the most-capped player in both formats. Additionally, he played a solitary T20 International during his illustrious career.
Beyond his statistical dominance, Tendulkar was instrumental in shaping modern Indian cricket. His impeccable technique, unwavering dedication, and ability to perform under pressure made him a global icon and an inspiration to millions.
Joining an Elite Group of Legends
With this award, Tendulkar joins an esteemed list of cricketing greats who have previously received the C.K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2023, the honor was conferred upon former India head coach Ravi Shastri and legendary wicketkeeper-batter Farokh Engineer. Tendulkar now becomes the 31st recipient of this prestigious award, which was first introduced in 1994 in honor of Col. C.K. Nayudu, India’s first Test captain.

Making his international debut in 1989 at the age of 16 during India’s tour of Pakistan, Tendulkar quickly established himself as the backbone of India’s batting lineup throughout the 1990s and early 2000s.
