Afghanistan’s star spinner Rashid Khan is set to lead MI Cape Town in the third season of the SA20 League. Reflecting on his captaincy journey and the challenges ahead, Rashid emphasized the importance of teamwork, effort, and learning from past experiences to achieve success in the tournament.

Learning Curve as a Captain
Speaking at the Official Captains’ Press Conference ahead of the tournament’s opening match, Rashid discussed his debut as a franchise captain during the first season of SA20. The Afghan spinner acknowledged the steep learning curve and the lessons he gained from his initial stint as a leader.
“It was my first time captaining a franchise team, and it was a completely new experience for me. There were decisions I made that, looking back, I might have approached differently. However, mistakes are an opportunity to grow, and I learned a lot during that season,” Rashid said.
Focus on Basics and Enjoyment
Rashid emphasized the need for MI Cape Town players to focus on the fundamentals, maintain a positive mindset, and give their all on the field.
“We had some great matches in the past, but we fell short in moments when we couldn’t control our nerves. This season, we aim to get the basics right, enjoy our cricket, and put in 100% effort. That’s the key to achieving the desired results,” he added.
