New Delhi [India]: England all-rounder Moeen Ali has expressed his excitement and gratitude after being signed by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for the upcoming 2025 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The franchise secured Moeen at his base price of ₹2 crore during the recently concluded IPL 2025 mega-auction.
In a video message shared on KKR’s official social media handle, Moeen shared his enthusiasm about joining the Knight Riders and thanked the team management for their faith in his abilities.
“Hi guys, I’m really excited to be joining KKR. The family, the team, the environment — it’s an amazing place to play. I want to thank Bravo [head coach Dwayne Bravo] and all the staff for trusting me. Hopefully, I can deliver when I get a chance. And lastly, Ami KKR!” Moeen said in the video.
Moeen’s Recent IPL Performance
Moeen Ali had a mixed season in IPL 2024. He featured in 8 matches, claiming just two wickets at an economy rate of 8.88 and an average of 35.50. With the bat, he managed 128 runs at a strike rate of 130.61.
Across his IPL career, the English all-rounder has played 67 matches, scoring 1162 runs at an impressive strike rate of 141.53. On the bowling front, Moeen has taken 35 wickets at an economy rate of 7.07, proving his value as a versatile player.
