India to Face Sri Lanka in T20I and ODI Series: Key Players Rested

The BCCI has revealed the schedule for India’s tour of Sri Lanka, featuring three T20I and three ODI matches. The series kicks off on July 27 in Pallekele and concludes on August 7 in Colombo.

T20I Series Schedule:

  • July 26: 1st T20I in Pallekele
  • July 27: 2nd T20I in Pallekele
  • July 29: 3rd T20I in Pallekele

ODI Series Schedule:

  • August 1: 1st ODI in Colombo
  • August 4: 2nd ODI in Colombo
  • August 7: 3rd ODI in Colombo

Key Players Rested:
Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah will miss the series. The BCCI has decided to rest these senior players to prepare them for the busy season ahead, starting with the Bangladesh tour in September.

A BCCI source stated, “Senior players can rest and prepare for the full cricket season ahead. They will join the team for the Test matches against Bangladesh in September.”

Following the Bangladesh series, India will host New Zealand for three Tests from October 16 to November 5. The team will then tour South Africa for four T20Is in November and play a five-match Test series in Australia starting November 22.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah announced that Gautam Gambhir will be the new head coach of the Indian men’s cricket team, with his first assignment being the series against Sri Lanka.
