Rahul Dravid’s younger son, Anvay Dravid, has made an impressive mark in age-group cricket by smashing his maiden century in the prestigious Vijay Merchant Trophy. The 16-year-old wicketkeeper-batter displayed remarkable skill and maturity, guiding Karnataka Under-16 to a first-innings lead against Jharkhand.

A Breakthrough Performance
Batting at No. 4, Anvay remained unbeaten on 100 off 153 balls, an innings decorated with 10 boundaries and two sixes. His century proved pivotal as Karnataka posted 441/4 in response to Jharkhand’s 387, earning three points from the drawn match.
Anvay’s efforts were well-supported by captain Dhruv Krishnan and opener Arya Gowda, both of whom also registered centuries, showcasing Karnataka’s batting depth.
A Promising Start
Anvay’s maiden century came in just his third innings of the tournament, following an impressive half-century and a knock of 75 in his earlier outings. His consistent performances underline his growing potential as a reliable middle-order batter and wicketkeeper.
Last year, Anvay showcased his leadership skills as captain of Karnataka’s Under-14 team, further highlighting his rapid progress through the age-group cricket system.
Samit Dravid: A Star in the Making
Anvay isn’t the only Dravid making waves in cricket. His older brother, Samit Dravid, has already built a strong reputation in age-group cricket. Samit was selected for the India Under-19 team earlier this year but had to miss a series against Australia due to a knee injury.
Samit’s performances in the Cooch Behar Trophy were stellar, with 362 runs and 16 wickets playing a key role in Karnataka’s title-winning campaign. He has also represented Mysuru Warriors in the Maharaja Trophy, cementing his position as a promising all-rounder.
A Legacy in the Making
Following in the footsteps of their legendary father, Rahul Dravid, both Anvay and Samit are emerging as key talents in Karnataka’s cricketing future. Anvay’s maiden century and Samit’s consistent all-round performances are strong indications that the Dravid legacy in Indian cricket is set to continue.
