MS Dhoni Features in ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 Campaign, Bringing Nostalgia and Intensity

January 31, 2025

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has launched its campaign for the highly anticipated Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, emphasizing the tournament’s high-stakes, ‘do-or-die’ format. The top eight teams from around the world will battle it out in thrilling, must-win encounters, with every match carrying significant weight in determining qualification for the next stages.

Star Sports Network, in partnership with the ICC, unveiled a captivating promotional film for the tournament under the theme “Har Match Do-or-Die,” setting the stage for one of cricket’s most eagerly awaited events. The film features MS Dhoni, the former Indian cricket captain who led India to victory in the 2013 Champions Trophy, adding both nostalgia and motivation to the campaign.

In this unique promo, Dhoni, known for his usually composed demeanor, appears in a rare and intense role, giving fans a glimpse of the pressure and drama that comes with the tournament. The visual opens with Dhoni submerged in a bathtub filled with ice, set against a snowy backdrop, as he sweats under extreme pressure. This striking image serves to highlight the tension and high stakes that characterize the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy. In his signature calm yet witty manner, Dhoni delivers a memorable line: “Ek bhi match mein phisle, samjho tournament se nikle,” underscoring the unforgiving nature of the competition.

Reflecting on the significance of the Champions Trophy, Dhoni shared, “The ICC Men’s Champions Trophy has always been a special tournament to me. It’s where the best in the world come face to face in high-stakes, do-or-die matches. While players manage the pressure on the field, the excitement and nerves for fans reach another level. Being part of this film was nostalgic, but I’m excited to connect with fans, experiencing every game just like them.”

Team India, now led by Rohit Sharma, will start their ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 journey on February 20 against Bangladesh in Dubai. Other key group-stage matchups include a thrilling encounter with Pakistan on February 23, followed by a clash against New Zealand on March 2. The tournament kicks off on February 19, with the final match set for March 9.
