India’s left-arm leg-spinner Kuldeep Yadav has provided encouraging news about his return to cricket following a groin surgery. The spinner shared a video on Instagram, where he was seen bowling in the nets under the guidance of his coaches, signaling his comeback to competitive cricket.

Successful Recovery and Return to Bowling
Kuldeep, who last played for India in October against New Zealand, had to undergo surgery in Germany after a groin injury ruled him out of action, including the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Speaking to The Telegraph, the Kanpur-born spinner expressed optimism about his progress.
“My recovery went quite well, and I’ve been bowling for some time now. I’m feeling good about my progress,” said Kuldeep, whose road to recovery seems to be on track as he gears up for a potential return.
A Key Contender for the Champions Trophy
Kuldeep’s impressive performances in recent tournaments, including his role in India’s 2024 T20 World Cup triumph, have solidified his reputation as a match-winner in all formats. With the ICC Champions Trophy set to begin next month, Kuldeep is being considered for selection, according to a source from the BCCI.
“He’s a champion bowler in all formats, and his selection will depend on fitness. He will definitely be discussed during the selection meeting,” the source stated.
Clearance from NCA and Preparations Ahead
Kuldeep’s coach, Kapil Panday, shared updates on the spinner’s preparations. He revealed that Kuldeep has resumed bowling over the past ten days and will soon arrive in Kanpur for further training.
“By January 25 or 26, he’ll be in Kanpur, where we’ll focus on refining his line, length, and spin. He should also receive clearance from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) by then. We’re confident about his selection for the Champions Trophy,” said Panday.
Possible ODI Series Appearance Before the ICC Event
To assess his match fitness, Kuldeep could be included in the three-match ODI series against England, scheduled as a preparatory event ahead of the Champions Trophy. If selected, the series will give the coaches and management a clear idea of his readiness for the high-stakes tournament.
As Kuldeep works toward a full recovery, Indian cricket fans will hope to see him in action in the UAE, where the conditions could favor his bowling style and bolster India’s chances in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy.
