“I told him that I idolise him and it was an incredible honor to play against him,” Konstas said. “When I faced him, it was surreal. He just has this aura about him, especially with the Indian crowd chanting his name—it felt larger than life.”

Despite the on-field incident, Konstas was surprised by Kohli’s down-to-earth nature. The former India captain wished him well for his cricketing journey, even encouraging him ahead of Australia’s upcoming Sri Lanka tour.
“He was very humble and kind. He wished me luck, saying he hopes I do well on the Sri Lanka tour if I make it to the squad. It meant a lot coming from someone I’ve looked up to my entire life,” Konstas added.

Konstas shared how his admiration for Kohli extends beyond the cricket field. “My entire family loves Virat. I’ve idolized him since I was young, and he’s truly a legend of the game,” he concluded.
