Prasidh Krishna sent a strong message to Australia’s 19-year-old batter Sam Konstas during the thrilling Sydney Test, reminding him that the Indian team stands united against any challenge. Krishna’s fiery remarks came after Konstas showcased an aggressive approach that India countered effectively in the first two days of the match.

A Tense Battle at the SCG
The third Test between India and Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground has been a nail-biting contest, with both teams vying for victory in a match likely to end on Day 3. On Day 1, Konstas tried to unsettle Jasprit Bumrah with some verbal exchanges but ended up falling short as Bumrah dismissed Usman Khawaja soon after.
Konstas himself was sent packing on Day 2 by Mohammed Siraj, as Australia folded for 181 in their first innings, giving India a slim four-run advantage. Prasidh Krishna, who picked up three crucial wickets, later addressed the media, emphasizing the team’s collective strength in response to Konstas’ aggressive demeanor.
“We respect the way Konstas plays, but we also know how to respond aggressively as a team. If someone wants to challenge us, we’re ready to remind them that they can’t take us for granted,” Krishna stated.
India Takes the Lead
By stumps on Day 2, India had reached 141/6, extending their lead to 145 runs. Rishabh Pant played a crucial knock of 61 runs off just 33 balls, smashing six fours and four sixes to push India’s lead beyond 140. However, India’s top order faltered once again, with Virat Kohli (6), Shubman Gill (13), and KL Rahul (13) failing to make significant contributions.
Krishna praised Pant’s explosive innings, saying, “We were all watching Pant bat, and it was exhilarating. If I were at home watching, I would have loved it. To see it live from the ground was even more special. Sure, it’s risky, but that’s the modern game.”
Bumrah’s Fitness Concerns
India’s stand-in captain, Jasprit Bumrah, had to leave the field on Day 2 due to back spasms, raising concerns about his availability for the remainder of the Test. However, Krishna and Siraj stepped up to the task, ensuring India maintained a narrow lead.
Reflecting on his own performance after lunch on Day 2, Krishna revealed how adjustments made during the break helped him improve. “During lunch, I reviewed my lengths with the analyst. My perception of the ideal length was slightly off. After making the necessary adjustments, I felt more in control and executed my plans better,” Krishna explained.
A Thrilling Finish Awaits
With India holding a slender advantage and both teams fighting tooth and nail, the Sydney Test is poised for an exciting conclusion. While Australia will look to capitalize on India’s fragile middle order, the visitors will rely on their bowlers and Pant’s counterattacking style to push for a win.
As Krishna aptly put it, “We’re here, all eleven of us. If the opposition wants to play aggressively, we’re ready to match them every step of the way.”
