Legendary Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni has always been known for his straightforward and grounded approach. Despite being one of the most celebrated players in the world, Dhoni has consciously stayed away from social media, choosing to let his cricket do the talking.

Dhoni’s Take on Social Media and PR
Speaking on Eurogrip Tred Talks, the former Indian captain revealed that over the years, several team managers encouraged him to embrace social media and public relations to boost his image. However, Dhoni remained firm in his belief that performing well on the field was all that mattered.
“I’ve never been a fan of social media. Since my debut in 2004, I’ve had numerous managers advising me to get active on platforms like Twitter and Instagram. They’d say, ‘You need to do PR, build a presence.’ But my reply was always the same—if you play good cricket, you don’t need PR,” Dhoni said.
Dhoni’s last activity on Instagram was in July 2024, and he has since maintained his distance from platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, proving his commitment to this philosophy.
A Legacy of Leadership
Dhoni’s career stats reflect his immense contribution to Indian cricket. Under his captaincy, India achieved numerous milestones:
Led India in 60 Test matches, securing 27 wins with a win percentage of 45.
Captained India in 200 ODIs, achieving 110 victories and a 55% win percentage.
Guided India to 41 wins in 74 T20Is, boasting a win percentage of 58.33%.
Elevated India to the number one ranking in ICC Test Rankings.
The only captain in cricket history to win all three ICC limited-overs trophies—the 2007 T20 World Cup, the 2011 ODI World Cup, and the 2013 Champions Trophy.
Set for IPL 2025 Return
At 43, Dhoni is gearing up for another season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Retained under the new uncapped player rule for INR 4 crore, Dhoni will once again don the iconic yellow jersey. CSK, five-time IPL champions, have also retained key players like Ruturaj Gaikwad (INR 18 crore), Ravindra Jadeja (INR 18 crore), Shivam Dube (INR 12 crore), and Matheesha Pathirana (INR 13 crore).
As Dhoni prepares to lead CSK in IPL 2025, his legacy as a player and leader remains unparalleled, proving that true greatness transcends the need for social media and PR campaigns.
