Australia Announces Squad for Women’s Ashes 2025 Against England

December 28, 2024

Australia has revealed its ODI and T20I squad for the highly anticipated Women’s Ashes 2025 series against England. The announcement, made on Saturday, has set the stage for an exciting contest between the two cricketing giants.

Skipper Alyssa Healy Faces Fitness Concerns
Captain Alyssa Healy is dealing with a lingering knee issue, which raises questions about her availability as a wicketkeeper for the series, as reported by ESPNcricinfo. The team will also be without all-rounder Sophie Molineux, who is set to undergo knee surgery following an injury sustained during the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL).

Molineux played a key role in leading the Melbourne Renegades to their first WBBL title but injured her left knee during the tournament. Australia’s physiotherapist, Kate Beerworth, confirmed that Molineux would undergo surgery next month.

“She will have surgery next month, and updates on her recovery timeline will follow,” Beerworth said.

Young Star Georgia Voll Earns a Spot
Promising batter Georgia Voll has been included in the squad after her remarkable debut series against India, where she scored 173 runs in three ODIs, including a century. Voll’s performance has made her one of the key players to watch in the upcoming series.

Schedule for Women’s Ashes 2025
The Ashes will commence with a three-match ODI series:

First ODI: January 11 at North Sydney Oval, Sydney

Second ODI: January 13 at Junction Oval, Melbourne

Third ODI: January 16 at Bellerive Oval, Hobart

The ODI series will be followed by a three-match T20I series:

Second T20I: January 23 at Manuka Oval, Canberra

Third T20I: January 25 at Adelaide Oval, Adelaide

The series will conclude with a one-off Test match on February 2 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
