Rohit Sharma’s Forgetfulness: A Tale of Mishaps and Humor Narrated by Imam-ul-Haq

December 20, 2024

Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma is known not only for his batting prowess but also for his legendary forgetfulness. Stories of him misplacing personal items like phones, gloves, and even passports have become a recurring theme, amusing teammates and rivals alike. Recently, Pakistani cricketer Imam-ul-Haq shared a hilarious anecdote on Cricwick’s Ultra Edge podcast, revealing how former Pakistan captain Babar Azam had to repeatedly remind Rohit about his belongings during the 2023 ICC World Cup.

The Tale of the Missing iPhone and AirPods

Imam recalled a story Babar Azam shared with him about an incident that occurred during the captain’s meeting ahead of the 2023 World Cup. According to Babar, Rohit Sharma, who had just purchased a new iPhone and AirPods, kept forgetting where he had left them.

“They were on a plane, and Babar told me that Rohit first left his iPhone somewhere, then forgot it on the plane, and then misplaced his AirPods multiple times during their conversation,” Imam said. Babar apparently had to intervene more than once to retrieve Rohit’s phone, humorously telling him, ‘Rohit bhai, apna phone rakhein’ (Rohit brother, please keep your phone with you).

Imam added that Rohit even had to call his manager to locate his misplaced AirPods. Laughing at the incident, Imam remarked, “He kept cursing himself, wondering why he keeps forgetting things.”

A Unique Personality

Speaking about Rohit’s forgetfulness, Imam described him as “a different level of personality.” When asked what he would do if he woke up as Rohit, Imam quipped, “I’d start by checking where I kept my shoes, phone, belt, and who I messaged or called the previous night.”

Hilarious Takes on Other Cricketers

Imam didn’t stop with Rohit’s anecdotes. He humorously commented on what he would do if he woke up as other cricketers. “If I were Virat Kohli, I’d start my day with black coffee,” Imam joked. He also added, “If I were David Warner, I’d watch a Tamilian movie for sure. One way or another, I’d get an IPL contract!”

Imam’s Recent Cricket Journey

While Imam-ul-Haq has delivered notable performances for Pakistan, he has had a quiet year in 2024. His last appearance for the national side was during the Boxing Day Test against Australia in 2023. Pakistan, meanwhile, is currently on tour in South Africa, aiming for a series whitewash in the ODIs before a one-off Boxing Day Test.

This humorous insight into the lighter side of cricket shows how even the world’s top players have their quirks, making them all the more relatable to fans.
