The IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, delivered its share of surprises, but none were as heart-wrenching for fans as Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) decision to part ways with Mohammed Siraj. Despite being a pivotal player for RCB for seven years, the franchise neither retained the pacer nor used the Right to Match (RTM) card to bid for him, even with a sizeable auction purse. A day after the auction concluded, an emotional Siraj took to Instagram to share a heartfelt message dedicated to RCB fans.

A Bond Beyond Cricket
Siraj, who debuted for RCB in 2018 and became one of the team’s most consistent performers, expressed immense gratitude and nostalgia in his emotional letter. “The seven years with RCB will always be close to my heart,” he wrote. Reflecting on his journey, he added, “From my first ball in RCB colors to every wicket taken, match played, and moment shared, the journey has been extraordinary. The bond I formed with the franchise and its fans is something I’ll always treasure.”
Fans as the Driving Force
Acknowledging the unwavering support of RCB’s passionate fanbase, Siraj wrote, “Through the highs and lows, your support remained constant. You, the fans, are the soul of this team. Your energy, love, and faith have been unmatched. Every time I stepped onto the field, I felt the weight of your dreams and gave my all because I knew you were behind me.”
He further admitted the pain of RCB’s title drought despite years of effort. “There were nights when the losses hurt more than words can explain, but your belief kept me going. I’ve seen your tears during tough times and your celebrations during victories. You are truly one of a kind, and I’ll cherish your love and loyalty forever.”
A New Chapter with Gujarat Titans
Although his time with RCB has ended, Siraj’s IPL journey continues with the Gujarat Titans (GT), who acquired him for a staggering ₹12.25 crore. Joining a formidable pace attack alongside Kagiso Rabada and Prasidh Krishna, Siraj is set to play a pivotal role in GT’s bowling lineup, taking over the mantle from Mohammed Shami.
Meanwhile, RCB has restructured its bowling unit with players like Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Josh Hazlewood, Yash Dayal, and Nuwan Thusara stepping up to fill the void left by Siraj.
“This Isn’t Goodbye”
Concluding his message, Siraj assured RCB fans that they will always hold a special place in his heart. “This isn’t goodbye—it’s a thank you. Thank you for believing in me and making me feel like a part of something much bigger than cricket.”
While Siraj embarks on a new journey with the Gujarat Titans, his heartfelt message resonates as a testament to the deep emotional connections forged in the IPL, both on and off the field.
