Abu Dhabi: England’s star wicket-keeper batter Jos Buttler showcased his brilliance in his debut match of the 2024 Abu Dhabi T10, leading the Deccan Gladiators to a thrilling victory against the Chennai Brave Jaguars at the Zayed Cricket Stadium. Buttler’s explosive performance set the tone for the tournament as he powered his team to chase down a daunting target of 142 with two balls to spare.

A Masterclass in T10 Cricket
Buttler delivered a breathtaking unbeaten 62 off just 24 balls, an innings laced with 4 boundaries and 6 towering sixes. He raced to his half-century in just 14 deliveries, providing the backbone for the Gladiators’ chase. Despite losing two early wickets, Buttler found a reliable partner in Tom Kohler-Cadmore. Together, they stitched a crucial 100-run partnership for the third wicket, stabilizing the innings and putting the Gladiators in control. Kohler-Cadmore contributed a brilliant 51 off 24 balls, earning high praise from Buttler. “He has been a standout performer in T10 cricket for years. It’s fantastic to see him start the tournament on such a high note,” Buttler remarked.

He commended Phil Salt for his recent performances, including an unbeaten 51 off 19 balls for Team Abu Dhabi. “Phil has been in fantastic form over the last 12-18 months. It’s great to see such strength in the England team,” Buttler said.
