Manchester United Eyes Adrien Rabiot as Major Summer Signing

July 25, 2024

Manchester United is reportedly targeting French midfielder Adrien Rabiot for their next significant acquisition this summer. Rabiot, who is currently a free agent after his contract with Juventus expired, almost joined Manchester United last season before opting for a one-year extension with the Italian club.

According to French media outlet L’Equipe, the Manchester United board is keen on bringing Rabiot to Old Trafford. Erik ten Hag, the club’s manager, reportedly had direct talks with Rabiot in 2023. The midfielder’s impressive performance has attracted interest from several European giants, including Real Madrid and AC Milan.

Transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano recently stated that Rabiot would not be renewing his contract with Juventus. Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Romano noted the opportunity for other clubs to sign the Frenchman. He mentioned that while no deal is currently in advanced stages, Rabiot remains a lucrative option for many teams.

Rabiot’s move to Juventus from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in 2019 saw him make a significant impact, with 212 appearances for the Italian side.

L’Equipe also reported that Manchester United had made an offer for PSG’s 23-year-old talent Manuel Ugarte, which was rejected. Consequently, United is considering a new proposal structure, potentially involving a loan with a purchase option. Additionally, the club is interested in acquiring Xavi Simons from PSG, having previously offered €50 million, though no agreement has been reached.

As the summer transfer window progresses, Manchester United’s pursuit of Rabiot and other talents will be closely watched by fans and analysts alike.
