The Indian cricket team triumphed in the T20 World Cup 2024, defeating South Africa in the final. This victory marked the end of an 11-year ICC title drought, with the team’s last win being the 2013 Champions Trophy. In celebration of this achievement, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a substantial reward, allocating INR 125 crore for the 42-member squad and support staff who traveled to the United States of America and West Indies.
How does this reward compare to the prizes given for previous ICC titles under MS Dhoni’s leadership?
In 2013, following their Champions Trophy win, the BCCI awarded each player INR 1 crore, while the support staff received INR 30 lakh each.

For the 2011 ODI World Cup victory, the initial prize money announced was INR 1 crore per player, later increased to INR 2 crore each. Support staff were awarded INR 50 lakh, and selectors received INR 25 lakh each.
After the 2007 ICC World T20 win, the entire team was collectively awarded INR 12 crore.
Distribution of the T20 World Cup 2024 Prize Money:
According to a report by the Indian Express, each of the 15 squad members from India’s T20 World Cup 2024 team will receive INR 5 crore. This includes players who did not participate in any matches. The four reserve players will receive INR 2.5 crore each.
India’s head coach, Rahul Dravid, will also receive INR 5 crore, mirroring the players’ reward. The coaching staff will each be given INR 1 crore. Additional backroom staff, such as physiotherapists and throwdown specialists, will earn INR 2 crore each, while selectors will receive INR 1 crore each.
